It’s no secret that the first three games of Euro 2016 have been rather tense, with both Spain and France being thrashed 5-1 by Germany in the quarter-finals.
In the first leg, Spain were left frustrated after a poor performance in their first match and, after the second, France lost their nerve to give up a second goal to the German side.
What is surprising is that, after two games, neither team have managed to score more than twice in a match.
The only two teams who have managed two goals in all three matches are Italy and England.
In all, Germany have scored a total of 12 goals in the four games.
That is more than two more than Italy and more than three more than England.
The Italians have scored four goals, while England have scored seven.
The three other countries have also failed to score twice in their games, with Italy failing to score against England on Wednesday and France failing to win against Spain on Saturday.
Italy have the best record against Germany, scoring 19 goals in 38 games.
The Italian goal scoring record against the Germans is even better, with 11 goals in 37 games against them.
Italy have only managed three goals in their last six matches against Germany.
That means Italy have conceded three goals from their last eight games against Germany in all competitions.
Germany have only conceded two goals from the same number of games against Italy in the Champions League and the UEFA Europa League.
The two countries also have a combined record of five goals in six games against each other.
The game against Spain is also the last one before the end of the season, so it will be interesting to see how Germany respond to a poor showing.
It could also be interesting for France to find out how they performed against the German team in the first game of Euro 2020, and if they are able to replicate that performance.
England’s performance in France was impressive, as they scored four times and had a clear goal lead.
However, they failed to take any chances, conceding two goals to two late strikes.
The goals came from two of the best strikers in the world, Harry Kane and Dele Alli, who both managed to get on the scoresheet.
Lionel Messi’s goals against Germany were also impressive, with the Argentinian scoring four times, two of which were on target.
He did manage to get the better of German keeper Manuel Neuer, who saved all four of his shots.
Germany will have the luxury of being able to rest some of their best players for the game against France, and will be without a number of players who have been rested for Euro 2016.
With England not playing, the English manager, Roy Hodgson, will be hoping that his team are not as tired as they were against Spain, but if they were, it would be a surprise.
The match will be played in the beautiful stadium of Stade de France in Paris, which will be packed with over 80,000 spectators, including many who may not have seen the game on TV.
I was expecting more from the Germans, but they are the ones who have the most to prove, says Giancarlo Stanton (Instagram: @GianCarloStanton) It will be a test for all sides to prove their mettle against Germany and France, with England also having the benefit of a bye to face the Netherlands on Tuesday.
